Highly talked about series “Kara Mia” will be competing for viewership with “Ang Probinsyano” on the prime time slot as soon as it airs this February 18.
The upcoming TV drama features young stars Barbie Forteza and Mika dela Cruz. It will replace Dingdong Dantes and Dennis Trillo’s “Cain at Abel” which also faced head to head with ABS CBN’s long running TV show.
GMA Vice President for Entertainment Lilybeth Rasonable told PEP.ph believes that “Kara Mia” will be a breath of fresh air for viewers as most action series are shown during its time slot.
“Magugulat sila, at saka itong si Barbie and Mika, hay naku, makikita mo talaga kung gaano sila kagaling na artista, kasi ang hirap ng ginagawa nila and yet they are performing with flying colors,” Resonable told PEP.
Since it reveal, “Kara Mia” has been receiving mixed reactions from the audience. Many of whom saw the hilarity in the series’ plot and it has now become a popular subject for memes on social media.
Despite everything, the GMA executive remains positive and even expressed her admiration on the TV series’ talents. “We’ve seen the pilot, talagang palakpakan. Palakpakan ang mga tao, mga nakakapanuod,” Resonable said.
“We are happy that people are receiving it well. It’s so memeable, it has gone viral so many times, na hindi naman namin sinasadya,” she added.
“Kara Mia” follows the story of two sisters suffering from a condition called Disprosopus or craniofacial duplication. It is a congenital defect wherein two faces share the same body.
“Of course, when doing projects like that, you take a risk because people might find it just creepy and baka ma-turn off….But because it’s been done so well and the artists are so good, natutuwa ang mga tao. Tuwang-tuwa kami,” Resonable told PEP.
